SEP Jazz One Selected to Perform at JEN National Convention

posted Aug 23, 2011, 8:18 AM by Jayson Gerth

Jazz One has been selected to perform in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, January 7th as a part of the 3rd Annual Jazz Education Network National Conference!

Why is this a big honor?

This is the first national honor given to a Southeast Polk High School music ensemble. We will join nationally and internationally known jazz artists and groups on the conference line-up as well as a select few other high school groups during a conference that will attract thousands of jazz educators from all over the country! You can read more about the organization and the conference here:

Mr. Gerth chose to submit a recording of Jazz One late last spring at the urging of a colleague that were impressed with the quality of our band. The application was due to the JEN organization by June 15th. Because of the early due date, all bands who wished to apply needed to submit a recording of their 2010-11 band, knowing that their 2011-12 would be the group performing. We had a fantastic year last year, and because I was (and am) confident in the wonderful quality of this year's group, I decided to apply. On the evening of August 18, I received an email from the President of JEN informing me that we had been accepted!

More information will be on its way as it becomes available. Stay Tuned!
